To this very day I still wonder why Jerry Goldsmith wasn’t awarded an Oscar for this great filmscore! Instead the winner -at the time- was Georges Delerue for “A Little Romance”….a nice score but “Star Trek The Motion Picture” is way,way much better. Okay the film itself wasn’t that great, but the music is just simply terrific and it is no wonder at all that the score has been re-released over and over again ,ever since the film was released in 1979. Now another beautiful new release which is really worth getting in you collection! Best cues are “Overture” & “Main Title & Klingon Battle”. Goldsmith passed away in 2004 and I miss the music of the great composer everyday! No composers like him [ beside the great John Williams ] anymore around these days… My suggestion is : get this one and you’ll have one of Goldsmith’s Best Scores to listen to.

One of the most beautiful, sensitive and poignant movie soundtracks I've heard. The story of love, hope and survival is superbly evolved throughout the entire score! Barbara Streisand's vocal performance of Love Will Survive is emotionally sensational. Wonderful work by The London Symphony Orchestra. An absolutely amazing soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve.
