DESCRIPTION

Beneath Painted Skies: Music from the Studio Ghibli Movies brings the enchanting musical worlds of Studio Ghibli to vinyl, performed by London Music Works and conducted and arranged by Nick Squires. This collection celebrates more than four decades of beloved Japanese animation, offering symphonic interpretations of themes from some of the most cherished films in the Studio Ghibli catalogue.

From the windswept landscapes of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and the airborne adventure of Castle in the Sky to the magical worlds of Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, the album explores the extraordinary emotional range of Studio Ghibli music. Its arrangements move between delicate, pastoral melodies, sweeping orchestral passages and intimate moments of reflection, capturing the wonder, nostalgia and imagination that define these cinematic classics.

The collection reaches into more recent Studio Ghibli films, featuring “A Shooting Star” from The Wind Rises, “Spring Waltz” from The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and “Ask Me Why (Mother’s Message)” from The Boy and the Heron. It also includes the vocal version of “Fine on the Outside” from When Marnie Was There, adding a tender vocal moment to this orchestral journey.

Common Questions

What does 'pre-order' mean?

A pre-order product is a product which still needs to be produced. So, after your purchase, you won’t receive this product immediately. We strive to send these on the Release Date which you can find on the product page.

Keep in consideration that manufacturing processes can always turn out to be delayed so this Release Date, acts as a guideline.

I ordered a pre-order and an in-stock item. When will they ship?

If you place an order containing both pre-order and in-stock items, your entire order will be shipped on the latest pre-order date of any pre-ordered items. If you prefer not to wait, please place separate orders.

Pre-order items have an (expected) release date noted on the product page. We typically ship these items several days before their release date to ensure that you receive the record on—or as close as possible to—the release date.
